A six-year-old British girl has died after apparently drowning in a hotel swimming pool in a popular Egyptian holiday resort.

Chloe Johnson, from Forest Hill, south London, died yesterday in the pool at the Coral Sea Waterworld hotel in Sharm el-Sheikh during a family holiday.

Her death is being investigated by local police and tour operator First Choice.

A spokesman said: 'First Choice can sadly confirm that a child has died while staying at the Coral Sea Waterworld hotel in Egypt.

'The incident occurred in a pool in the hotel's waterpark.

'Our thoughts and condolences are with the family at this extremely difficult time.

'The British Consulate were immediately informed and they are now working with our dedicated resort team in Egypt, to offer every assistance possible to the family in resort.

'In partnership with the hotelier, our resort team are working to understand how the incident occurred, and we will be carrying out a full and thorough investigation.

'At this time our priority is to provide support to the family.'

The Foreign Office said it was now providing assistance to the family.

A spokesman said: 'We are aware of the death of a British national in Sharm el-Sheikh on May 17.

'We are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time.'

Sharm el-Sheikh is a popular holiday destination overlooking the Red Sea, located on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, in Egypt.

It has a population of about 35,000 and is a popular destination for British tourists.

According to the Coral Sea Hotels and Resorts website, the Coral Sea Waterworld Hotel is 'a magnificent resort leaving nothing to be desired' and is 'set amid colourful landscape gardens and the resort two pools'.

It is described as a 'perfect setting for complete relaxation', as well as being 'an ideal venue for many exciting activities'.

London derby... in Birmingham! Chelsea v Arsenal play-off set for Villa Park to throw mega-money US tour into doubt

Arsenal and Chelsea will travel to Birmingham for the potential Premier League third-place play-off after Villa Park was confirmed as the venue - should one be required.

The match to decide who will get the automatic place in the Champions League group stages will be held on Sunday May 26.

The kick-off time is still to be confirmed, although it will be an early afternoon start, and tickets will be priced at £20 and £30.

The scheduling means Chelsea's American tour, with two games against Manchester City to be held on May 23 and 25, will be in jeopardy if the play-off is required.

The match will only be held if Arsenal and Chelsea finish the season level on points, goal difference and goals scored.

Chelsea are currently two points ahead of Arsenal going into the final day on Sunday, with a goal difference of 35 and goals scored at 73.

Arsenal's goal difference is 34, having scored 71 and conceded 37.

This means that if Chelsea were to draw with Everton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and Arsene Wenger's side beat Newcastle by one goal and also concede at least one - so 2-1, 3-2, 4-3 etc - then they will be all square.

The possibility of an end of season play-off has been planned for in the past, back in the 1995-96 season when Manchester United and Newcastle United were fighting it out for the title. Despite being neck and neck for much of the run-in, United won the league without the need for a play-off.

Preparations for the possible play-off in 1996 went as far as printing tickets for the game. The proposal was to stage the game at Wembley with two post-season dates, May 16 and May 21, identified and ticket prices set at £20.

PS In an admittedly more unlikely scenario, if Tottenham draw 6-6 against Sunderland and Arsenal lose 15-0 to Newcastle, there would be a play-off to decide the final Champions League place. Don't hold your breath...

Cristiano Ronaldo is at the centre of a bidding war after it emerged the Manchester United target is wanted by Chelsea.

The £80million Real Madrid forward is on a summer shopping list put together by Chelsea’s incoming manager Jose Mourinho.

That’s not something Chelsea are noted for either but Roman Abramovich is set to spend big this summer.

Interim Chelsea coach Rafa Benitez claimed yesterday that Abramovich is about to fund a £100m spree for his new manager.

Although Mourinho is unlikely to be able to persuade all three forwards to move to Chelsea, the club intend to move swiftly this summer.

David Beckham is not in the top 1,000 Premier League players, according to former England winger Chris Waddle.

Beckham, who will play his last Paris Saint-Germain home match today, was described by Waddle as ‘good but not great’.

The former Newcastle and Tottenham star told BBC Radio 5 Live: ‘You can go down a list of footballers since the Premier League began and I don’t think David Beckham would be in the first 1,000.’

Beckham, 38, announced his retirement on Thursday but Waddle, who won 62 England caps, said:

‘He made the most of what he had. He has got a terrific image and used it very well.

‘He said the right things, he sold shirts, he put money in the tills wherever he went and conducted himself well.

‘He never had a trick, wasn’t particularly quick, but he was very good at set-pieces and deliveries. He made chances and made goals and was fantastic for clubs. Now people will be talking about him and saying, “How great?” I would say, “How good?”’

PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti yesterday confirmed that Beckham will be part of the French champions’ team to face Brest at the Parc des Princes and said: ‘He is really professional, really humble.

6 Things Never To Do On A First Date

Don't dress overly provocatively on the first date. I personally love to push fashion envelopes and take every opportunity to do so, but only at the appropriate time -- and when I was dating, that "appropriate time" would not be on the very first date. When choosing that super-important outfit for a first date, ask yourself, "What kind of message do I want to send?" Wearing something cute and on-trend that shows you off in a flattering way will get you sincere compliments; wearing something that reveals too much can get you into a sincere wrestling match. In other words, don't work the sexy too soon.
For the Gentlemen
Guys, I am going to share a secret with you: Women truly appreciate a man who knows how to dress. It shows that you care about what she thinks and that you care about the impression that you want to make. I realize that many of you prefer to be casual, but you do not want to be toocasual. Now, you obviously do not have to wear a suit to a coffee date at the beach, but nice jeans and a shirt on a movie date will be appreciated far more than shorts and flip-flops. Consider the venue that you are going to and use your good judgment -- we really are paying attention.

Don't over-imbibe: Aside from obvious drinking-and-driving concerns, too much alcohol lowers inhibitions and pretty much eliminates common sense. You don't want to say -- or do -- something that you will regret the following day. Limit yourself to two cocktails and then switch to non-alcoholic drinks.

Avoid the Biggest First-Date Taboo of Them All...
No matter how attracted you are to someone; no matter how great the date is going or how beautifully you are getting along -- do not have sex on the first date. Moreover, if someone is trying to pressure you into a sexual situation after knowing you all of two hours...run out the door (and think twice before ever going out with them again!). The only thing that a wonderful first date should lead to is a second date...not breakfast in bed the following morning.

Rihanna 'to sue Topshop for £3million' after fashion chain uses pictures of her on T-shirts without her permission

Rihanna is threatening to sue Topshop after claiming they sold T-shirts with her face on it without asking permission.

The superstar's team is said to have told the high street clothing chain run by billionaire Sir Phillip Green to stop selling them, and is reported to be asking for £3million in compensation at the High Court.

The legal threat comes despite the What's My Name singer having dined with Sir Philip and music mogul Simon Cowell while on her Christmas break to Barbados in 2010.

She tweeted about the Boxing Day meal they had together: 'Just had dinner w/ Simon Cowell Philip Green @ Sandy Lane! Great night!'

She has also spent time with Sir Philip's daughter Chloe, while holidaying at the same time in the Caribbean in 2011.

It was even rumoured she might follow in the footsteps of Kate Moss and design a range for Topshop, but the two parties could face eachother in court.

Last year Topshop released a T-shirt featuring a picture of Rihanna in her 'We Found Love' music video, which sold out quickly afterwards. It is understood this is the problem garment,

In Britain companies could argue that by buying the image from the photographer, they do not have to pay licensing fees to the star pictured.

A source close to the singer said the 25-year-old was offered a small sum of cash and told her management 'we do what we want', according to the New York Times.

'Rihanna’s management asked Topshop a number of times to stop selling her image,' the source said

'What is most offensive for Rihanna is that they basically told her, "Go to hell. We don’t care"; we are going to continue selling you.

'Even though the UK laws don’t protect the artist, she has decided to move forward and sue Topshop. She has spent almost $1 million in litigation at this point. She says it’s the principle, and wants to make a statement about it. They are taking advantage of artists. It is just exploitation. What they are doing is wrong.'

Topshop is a British retail powerhouse who are trying to expand in America, setting up stores in New York, and said it would not comment today.

But a company source said: source close to the company said: 'This issue is related to a T-shirt provided to Topshop by a third party supplier.

'We have been informed that the claimants documents do not mention any specific level of financial damages so any numbers referenced are fictitious'.
